Chick peas

Lemon juice

Sesame paste (a.k.a. tahini paste)


Garlic, crushed

Cumin powder

Olive oil


Blend the tahini paste well.

Add salt, garlic,cumin, olive oil and lemon juice and blend some more (about 1 minute). If you’re using a blender with metal blades, don’t add the lemon juice at this stage.

Boil and drain the chick peas. Add them to the blender and blend well with the other ingredients.

If you didn’t add the lemon juice earlier, add it at this stage. You can add water to improve the consistency of the mixture if it is too dry.

Serve with olive oil drizzled over the mixture. This can accompany garlic bread or Arabic bread and some grilled meat.
