Chicken Shawarma


For chicken preparation:
Boneless chicken breast, cut into even sized cubes
Chilli powder
Cumin powder
Turmeric powder
Ginger paste
Garlic paste
Roasted curry powder
Lemon juice

Other ingredients:
Pita bread
Potato fries
Lettuce, chopped
Onion, chopped
Tomato, sliced

Marinate the chicken cubes in the above ingredients preferably overnight or for at least 4 hours.

Cook the chicken with marinade until slightly charred or skewer them and grill until tender. You can dab a bit of oil on the pieces as they grill. Do not over-cook them, they should be ready within 10-15 minutes. Make sure you turn the skewers several times if you’re grilling on a bbq grill to ensure all sides are evenly cooked. If baking under an oven grill, set the temperature at 200 C, bake for 10 minutes per side or until slightly charred.

Place a pita bread. Spread some garlic sauce or mayonnaise, any chilli or ketchup sauce, even tamarind chutney if you like. Add some chopped lettuce or cabbage, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, fries.

Roll and wrap with greaseproof paper or foil. Serve warm.
